ENGINEERING INFORMATION LAUNCHES NTIS DATABASE ON ENGINEERING VILLAGE 2™

Expands Collection of Leading Engineering Databases

HOBOKEN, N.J., 18 December 2003 - Elsevier Engineering Information (www.ei.org) has launched the U.S. National Technical Information Service (NTIS) database on Engineering Village 2 (www.engineeringvillage2.org), the premier web-based discovery platform for the engineering community. The NTIS database is the leading source for accessing unclassified reports from hundreds of influential U.S. and international government agencies.

Engineering Village 2 now offers subscribers the ability to search the three most prominent and powerful databases in Engineering simultaneously. By searching the NTIS database combined with Compendex®, the world's most widely accepted bibliographic database covering the engineering field, and the IEE's Inspec®, users have access to the most comprehensive collection of engineering references available.

In addition to the extensive full-text linking currently offered on Engineering Village 2, the NTIS database provides links to the NTIS document ordering service to help facilitate the process of requesting government documents electronically. Once users are able to identify the documents necessary for their research, they are given the mechanism to order them, speeding the research process.

"Engineering researchers need the ability to locate papers relevant to their research regardless of whether they are generated in academia, the corporate world or government sectors. Searching a variety of sources independently can be a time consuming and frustrating experience. " said Rafael Sidi, Elsevier Engineering Information's Vice-president of Engineering Publishing. "The availability of the NTIS database alongside Compendex and Inspec on Engineering Village 2 provides engineering researchers the ability to search all three sources simultaneously, without duplicating effort and wasting valuable time."
