EI COMPENDEX® DATABASE ADDS 8 MILLIONTH RECORD
Milestone Reached for Leading Engineering Database
HOBOKEN, N.J. 20 July 2004 - Elsevier Engineering Information (www.ei.org ) announces the 8 millionth record has been added to the Compendex® database and loaded on the Engineering Village 2™ discovery platform. Compendex is the definitive bibliographic database covering published engineering literature and is used by professional engineers, engineering students, researchers and information professionals worldwide.
Since its creation in 1969, Compendex has offered the broadest coverage of significant engineering literature available. As the volume of published engineering literature has grown steadily over the past 35 years, the Compendex database continues to expand its coverage, providing researchers with a breadth of literature they can rely upon . In 2003 alone, over 500,000 new records were added to the Compendex database. Compendex now covers over 4,000 serial sources each year, originating from more than 80 countries.
The 8 millionth article added to Compendex on the Engineering Village 2 discovery platform is titled “Dynamic characteristics of a flexible rotor system supported by a viscoelastic foil bearing (VEFB).” The article is authored by a team of researchers, led by Yong-Bok Lee from the Tribology Research Center at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology and appears in the September 2004 issue of Tribology International.
“The body of published literature important to engineering disciplines continues to grow and we are extremely proud that the Compendex database continues to keep pace” explains Ross Graber, Elsevier Engineering Information’s Director of Marketing. “For 35 years, Compendex has provided engineering students and professionals with the means to remain abreast of significant publication in engineering. Compendex has reached the 8 million record milestone and at the same time it is more widely used and more important to engineering research than ever.” About Elsevier Engineering Information Elsevier Engineering Information is a leading provider of information solutions and discovery tools that meet the needs of the engineering and applied physical science communities.
