INSPEC® ARCHIVE NOW AVAILABLE ON ENGINEERING VILLAGE 2™
Platform provides researchers greatest access to historic engineering discovery
HOBOKEN, N.J. 1 November 2004 - Elsevier Engineering Information (www.ei.org) announces the availability of the IEE's Inspec Archive to the Engineering Village 2™ (www.engineeringvillage2.org) discovery platform. The Inspec Archive is the result of the digitization and enhancement of the Science Abstracts Journals which date from 1898 and cover published literature in physics, electrical engineering, and computing and control. Inspec is the world leading bibliographic database providing global coverage of scientific and technical literature in the fields of physics, electrical engineering, electronics and computer science. The Science Abstract Journals are the print predecessors to the Inspec bibliographic database. Engineering Village 2 is the premiere web-based discovery platform for the engineering community.
The Inspec Archive spans 176 print volumes, over 140,000 pages and results in over 870,000 fully digitized records. All records are fully digitized and contain original indexing, abstracts, figures and graphs which appear in the original print versions. Historic citations relating to publication by Robert Goddard, Albert Einstein and Max Planck highlight the notable works found throughout the archive.
Engineering Village 2 supports seamless searching of the Inspec Archive with the Inspec database. By allowing researchers to combine searches of the Inspec Archive with The Engineering Index® Backfile, Engineering Village 2 offers access to the greatest available electronic body of engineering literature. Combined, the collections contain over 2.5 million historical records and date to the 1880's.
