Referex eBooks Database Launches 3 New Collections and Over 900 Additional Titles

Crafted eBooks collections deliver even more engineering answers

New York, N.Y., 18 September 2007 - Engineering Information (www.ei.org) announces the release of a significant expansion of the Referex eBooks database, delivering three times more engineering reference content to engineering researchers. Referex is a premium reference database comprised of professional reference content selectively sourced from Elsevier’s books publishing program. Referex provides engineering researchers with answers to their reference questions and is hosted exclusively on the award winning, Engineering Village™ (www.engineeringvillage.com) discovery platform.

While delivering full-text eBook content in .pdf format, Referex provides a robust search environment allowing users to locate the reference content they require. With each search, entire books, chapters and individual pages are ranked based on how well they match a user’s search criteria, thus helping users to select the most relevant documents. Searches can be performed against the nearly 1,400 eBook titles or combined with bibliographic databases hosted on Engineering Village.

The Referex expansion features the introduction of over 480 new titles to existing collections in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials, and Petrochemical, Chemical and Process Engineering. Expanded collections offer even more of the most prominent authors and trusted titles in their respective fields.

Three new Referex collections have been created covering Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computing, and Security and Networking. Like the existing collections, these new Referex collections are comprised of selected titles geared toward professionals and practitioners.

"Since its introduction in 2004, Referex continues to be an incredibly popular offering with our customers by packaging of the right book content to form a searchable database of reference that engineering and technical professionals can trust” said Colby Ellis, CEO and President of Engineering Information. “By dramatically expanding the available titles and collections, Referex delivers an excellent value to users seeking hard to find answers."

Referex collections are expertly crafted into fixed and focused collections. Titles are drawn from Elsevier’s Science and Technology books publishing program and feature leading imprints including Pergamon, Newnes, Butterworth Heinemann, Morgan Kaufmann, and Syngress.
