Free Web Search vs. Paid Seach Tools: A Comparison of Productivity in the Research Process
In response to pressures to conduct research more quickly and accurately, engineers and scientists are relying on a variety of search tools for insight, analysis and intelligence. While the free web suffices for simple searches, this study found that paid search is 325% more productive than the free web.  It is in the best interests of companies that conduct R&D, to support their researchers with appropriate paid search tools - those that enable the research process to move forward more efficiently, accelerating R&D activities.
